She's just brilliant at what she does, both her blog and instagram.

Rissie is a blogger and a youtuber, and also uploads the most gorgeous pictures to her Instagram. You will find lots of flowers, cats, hair styles, smoothies, a bog post photos on her account. Can we just discuss how yummy that smoothie looks?! I now want to make my own! Her Instagram reflects how beautiful her blog is, she's brilliant at taking photos. Barry M Gelly Nail Paint | Review

Today I'm going to be reviewing 2 of Barry M's Gelly Nail Paints. These being, Prickly Pear and Blueberry.

I absolutely adore Barry M nail varnish, what do you guys call nailvarnish? I feel I'm the only one who calls them that, I see lots of people calling them nail polish, nail paints.. I dunno!
Anyway, before the Gelly collection came out I would buy so many of the original collection, however now I only seem to really buy the Gelly nail varnishes, unless I see a colour I really like on the original line.

So at the beginning of this month, I did a quick shop in boots; I say quick, it really wasn't, I was in there for what felt like hours, and pretty much bought the whole shop. Whilst I was there I picked up Barry M's Prickly Pear, and Blueberry.

These two colours have literally been on my nails throughout the month, it's been either one or the other, because seriously.. how pretty are they?!

If you haven't tried Barry M Gelly Nail Paints before, which I'm sure you have, they're amazing quality for such a small price. They claim to provide an extra glossy finish in one coat, they're apparently highly pigmented, chip resistant, and have a gel like finish. Yep, I think I could agree with that.. However I find I need to apply 2 coats for the colours to be opaque. They do chip, but I notice this starts to happen after 3-4 days, sometimes longer, which for me is pretty good as my job is quite hands on!

Left - Prickly Pear. Right - Blueberry.

The finish is also brilliant, super shiny and smooth, meaning you don't need to use a top coat, which is handy if you're stuck for time.

If you wanted to pick these up for yourself, they're £3.99 each, £1 dearer than the originals! I'd a million percent recommend them, they're so so shiny and for such a small price you'll be getting yourself an absolute bargain!
You can find them here.
Psssst, it's buy one get the second half price on Barry M products at the minute!!

Do you have any of the Barry M Nail Paints? I'd love any recommendations!

10 Tips For Longer, Healthier Hair.

For todays post I've put together a little list of my top 10 tips for longer, healthier hair. These are the things I do for my hair, and I can honestly say it's in the best condition it ever has been. It's now super long too, which I'm so pleased about! I had my hair cut around shoulder length in March and absolutely hated it! My hair is now half way down my back!

I've also tried to include tips which doesn't involve using a hair product or spending money, after all we all want longer healthier hair the easiest way possible..

Enjoy!

1 - Avoid fully drying your hair when you can, if I'm not going anywhere, I half dry it so it's kind of dry.. but not quite, doing this means you're not constantly applying heat to the bits of your hair that's already dry! As we all know, excess heat kills your hair!

2 - Get your hair cut once every 4-6 weeks, I get my ends cut once every 5 weeks, however you can do what's right for you|your hair. Getting your ends cut this often might seem like you're chopping off all of your hair, but it honestly makes it grow quicker and longer. The longer you leave your hair between cuts, the dryer the ends will become, resulting in them splitting. This happened to me, I left my hair for over a year without getting the ends cut because I wanted it as long as possible, and where I left it so long my split ends were so bad I needed the majority of my hair cut off, about 5-6 inches. For someone who loves long hair this made me really sad :( but I learnt from it!

3 - An obvious one, use heat protection, and say goodbye to dry ends! I use TRESemme heat defence styling spray

4 - Once you've finished drying your hair, go over it with your hairdryer on the cool setting, this seals in all the goodness that your hair needs, and obviously takes away the heat from your hair a lot quicker, which we know is bad for it!

5 - Brush your hair as often as possible! I'm guilty of this one, I have naturally curly hair so brushing it is pretty much a no go for me, so if I'm honest I rarely do this one, but I should! Brushing your hair disturbs your hairs natural oils allllll the way down into the root, making your hair shinier, and grow faster. Try not to brush your hair when it's wet, I brush mine before I get in the shower, your hair is weaker when it's wet, so it's more likely to break!

6 - Use a deep conditioner, I use a hair mask, once a week, usually on a Sunday, so I know that it gets a good treatment after a hard weeks work. I use an Argan Oil hydrating hair mask. psstttt, It's seriously amazing and its only £1?!

7 - Drink more water, again.. I don't really do this one either, oopsie! Drinking water stops the dryness!

8 - Don't wash your hair too often, doing so rids your hair of its natural oils, which not only will lengthen the growing process (no pun intended), but will result in super dry unhealthy hair! I wash mine once every 3 days.

9 - Buy hair bands without rips in, or little decals. The amount of times I've bought hair bands from primark which have an annoying little slit in them, they literally pull out a stupid amount of hair, and it hurts!!

10 - Style your hair in sections - When straightening mine I do it in sections, this ensures you don't go over the same bit of hair 2748382 times, and it doesn't sizzle off like the girl curling her hair in that video! Poor girl.

I always keep the conditioners from my home hair dye boxes, they are seriously amazing!

So there we have it, I hope you enjoyed learning how I look after my hair!

Do you have any tips?

Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie | Review

Lets just look past the fact we're in August and no way near close to Christmas, although we're still technically in summer, I cannot wait for winter to come around, I just love it.
Today I'm going to express my love for the candle that is Christmas Cookie, a candle which personally.. I don't think smells Christmassy at all, or maybe here's me just trying to justify why I'm burning it in August..

Yankee Candles official description -

"Buttery rich, vanilla scented, holiday sugar cookies"

That's exactly what it is, to me, It smells very strongly of vanilla, and freshly baked sugar filled cookies. It genuinely smells just like my kitchen when I'm baking cookies, it's definitely true to its description!
I'm awful at describing scents, sorry!

The candle itself has a really strong scent when burning, it literally makes my whole house smell of cookies and sugar, so the scent throw is also brilliant - I've had a few candles from Yankee which have a terrible scent throw, usually the ones that are less fragranced, however Christmas Cookie smells incredibly strong!

I'll be honest, the picture on the front of the jar was what caught my attention to begin with, how beautiful is it?! I want to eat each and every one of those cookies haha.. I find the picture really helps with the scent when you're smelling them in the shop, as by looking at the picture you have a rough idea of the smell before you open it, you have a certain expectation, and I definitely wasn't disappointed.

For anyone that's a dedicated reader of my blog, you would know that I have far too many candles - Christmas Cookie being one of my absolute favourites, I've repurchased this at least 4 times, I just adore it.
I mainly buy my candles from a Yankee Candle store, that way I know for sure if I like what I'm buying, however the ones I repurchase I buy off of the companies website, you can find this particular candle here. The price for this sized jar in particular is £21.99, get it whilst you can, it's very popular! Also the website currently has £1 delivery on orders over £25, this is very rare so make the most of that!

Do you have any Yankee Candles? If so, which ones are your favourites?!

Topshop Rio Rio Lipstick | Review

If you read my previous post Drugstore Makeup Haul, you would've seen how excited I was to try out my new Topshop lippy in the shade Rio Rio. I've finally had the chance to try it out and I wasn't disappointed!

Seriously though how beautiful is this lipstick?! I think I'm in love..

Topshop's range of makeup is just brilliant, isn't it? Its all such amazing quality, so I wasn't expecting to be disappointed by the Rio Rio lipstick. Firstly, lets discuss the packaging, oh my its just so effing beautiful, the colours, the box, all of which make the lipstick look so expensive. I adore the rose gold detailing, and the colour, oh my goodness the colour. On a quick first glace I would say its a bright red, but when applying and looking closely I would say it's more of an orange toned red, which for me is perfect, I'm not quite brave enough to wear a bright orange lipstick, so this is the perfect in between! I'm very much so your red lip kinda gal!

Upon purchasing it, I was a little worried that because it's matte, it would be super drying, however I couldn't have been more wrong - It has a super creamy formula and feels very soft when applying it, I'm not sure why but I much prefer matte lipsticks to glossy, I find they look more flattering on me, and in my little head something makes me think they're less likely to smudge? No idea why haha!
When I wear it, I very rarely pair it with a lip liner, purely because you really don't need to, it doesn't smudge or bleed, I only ever really wear lip liner with it if I'm going out and I want it to look more defined, or last that little bit longer. Although, the staying power in general is brill, it stays put for hours, and even when it does eventually begin fading it looks as if you're wearing a lip stain, it's still very pretty.

*The above photos were taken just after purchase*

Overall, I'm really impressed, with the lipstick, and Topshop's makeup range In general, for the price, £8.00, you're getting great value for money, and I would highly recommend trying it for yourself!
You can find Topshop's Rio Rio lipstick here.

Have you tried Topshop's lipsticks? If you have, which ones would you recommend?

Drugstore Makeup Haul.

Yesterday, I decided to take a trip to Cabot Circus in Bristol - oh me oh my what a mistake for my bank balance!

I told myself I wouldn't over spend, however I couldn't stop myself buying two pairs of jeans, a Yankee Candle, a Hollister jumper, and makeup from Superdrug. oopsieeee, doesn't this happen to all of us?!
Today I thought I would share the goodies I picked up in Superdrug, I repurchased a few bits, however some are new to my collection, and I'm excited to try them out!

The first thing I picked up was a blush from Sleek, this one is in the shade Flushed. This costs £4.49, you can find it here.
I'm yet to try this, I've heard the quality is great so I'm looking forwarding to using it!

Revlon's Colourburst Matte Balm, Superdrug have a 2 for £8 deal on at the moment, however I couldn't see another colour I really liked! Weirdly, they don't have the matte ones on their website, however you can find the original shine colourbursts here.

Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint, in Blue Grape. This is a repurchase for me, I absolutely ADORE the colour, it's so bright, and everyone always asks what's on my nails when I wear it! This costs £3.99, you can find it here.

Ok, I didn't get this from Superdrug, this is a Topshop lipstick, but I had to include it because it's amazing and the price is brilliant! This is Topshops RioRio lippy, is a true bright red, its so effing pretty! I own way too many red lipsticks, but I think this one may be a firm favourite. This costs £8.00, and you can find it here. It also dries matte, which I prefer!

Doesn't everyone love the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer?! Again, this is a repurchase for me. I dread to think how many tubes of this stuff I've actually owned! I love the stuff, I'm not sure it lasts 16 hours as it states, for me anyway.. However it does the job, and I love it. Mines in the shade "cool medium". This costs £4.19, and you can find it here.

Hmm, can you tell I love red lipstick?! This ones By Rimmel London, from the Kate Moss collection. Mines in the shade 111 Kiss of Life. This is a new one for me, I usually stick to my trustly old 117 however I thought id try this one out, these lipsticks are brilliant for the price, and dry matte, yet they aren't drying at all. I love them a lot! They smell amazing too! Again, Superdrug doesn't have this on their website for some reason, so to find the glossy version, I've linked it here. For £5.49 you can't go wrong :)

Collection's "Bronze Glow" in 1 Sunkissed. This was £2.99, now £2.50! You can find it here.
This is also a new one for me, the different colours excite me haha!

Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned? Let me know if you have in the comments, and how you got on with them!

I Have The Best Job Ever!

I absolutely love my job, personally I think I have the best, more rewarding job ever.

I am lucky enough to work in such a brilliant setting. I work with children, in a lovely little nursery just outside Bath. It's completely different to any nursery I've ever seen before - we're a Forest School nursery, meaning we let our children learn through the outdoors. Think back to your own childhood, if it was anything like mine, you spent the majority of it outside playing games, climbing trees, and exploring. Something which unfortunately, children now a days just aren't experiencing.

To say my setting is different is an understatement; our children build fires, use hammers and saws (tools which I expect you're thinking WHAT?! REALLY?!) Yes really! The children are well equipped with the knowledge of how to use them, thanks to our amazing Forest School leader, with supervision and rules the children thrive, and love what they do.

We go exploring in the brook, climb mud hills, pond dip, build things, the list is endless. Seeing the children honestly excited about coming to nursery is so lovely to see, and that's thanks to the brilliant work we all do.

This time of year really gets me thinking about how lucky I am to have such a brilliant job, I adore the children I look after, they're so funny, witty and caring. I have an endless list of the hilarious things they say.. However lots of them are now leaving us to go to big school, and to say I'm emotional about it is a massive understatement. I'm pretty sure I've cried every single day this week, and you're probably thinking that's really sad and weird, but honestly, the children I look after have been in our care since they were 6 months+, they leave age 4 for school. I've watched them grow, develop little personalities, make friendships, dance to frozen, run around the garden, splash in puddles, try new things - all of which I've helped contribute to. One little girl in particular, I've helped to become the strong independent little girl she is today, to see everything she has overcome, to her now going off to school, is so emotional. It has made being her 1:1 support worker so so rewarding, and I will miss her too much!

It's so sad to see them move on to the next step of their adventure, but I'm also so proud of each and every one of them, they've all achieved so much at our nursery, and to say I helped them along their way is very very rewarding.

Personally, I don't think I could do your every day job, with mine, I get to explore, play games, paint, draw, splash In puddles, and generally have a really lovely time. Lots of people say to me "It's not really a job, you just sit and play all day" If you're ever worked with children, have children of your own, or little brothers and sisters, you will know It's so much more than this, and it's bloody difficult!

I've also received so many gorgeous gifts over the past 2 weeks, which I am so so grateful for. So thank you to all the generous mummies and daddies, children also, for their lovely gifts, and beautiful personal cards. Im welling up writing this, oops! haha, so I'm going to leave it here, and share a few of the lovely things I received.

getting emotional reading this one back *wipes away tears*

and that, is why I know I have the best job ever.

Things We Wish We Knew Back Then.

Looking back to your childhood, and teenage years, don't you wish you knew then what you know now? There are so many things I wish I could tell my younger self, which you may relate to;

Primary School

1) Don't worry about doing PE infront of the group.. You'll still hate it when you're older, but I'm sure the other 7-12 year olds won't remember how bad you were at volleyball.

2) Don't fret over your SATS.. If anything Soph, prepare yourself for the bloody awful essays coming your way in college.

3) Popularity couldn't be less important, you may think having loads of friends is what you want but lets be honest, you'll probably be going to Secondary school with about 10 of these, and you'll stay good friends with only 1.

4) Your school dinners were actually quite nice.. you'll miss them when you're older, make the most of that sponge cake while you can Soph!

Secondary School

1) Your results in your tests, exams, essays, don't define who you are. You could have brilliant social skills, be brilliant at understanding people, not every exam you take will highlight this. Don't worry if you didn't get that B you were predicted in Science.

2) Sometimes your best just isn't good enough.. And thats ok! Believe it or not, the fact you weren't that good at RE.. doesn't mean you won't succeed at other things.

3) Make the most of the easy life you have at the minute, you think school is really difficult, you hate the place, you can't wait to leave, however give it a few years and you'll realise that growing up isn't quite what you imagined.

4) Wearing that blue glittery eyeliner to school.. Not only will it look hideous, but you'll also remember that time you always wore it to school.. Instant regret.

5) Bin the white socks. Pairing those with your black dolly shoes.. definite no.

6) Make the most of the time you have with your tutor group, they're actually a good bunch of people, you grew up with them, you'll learn to love their annoying ways. That goes for your whole year group, in a few years you'll be wondering what everyone is doing, even the girl you never spoke to.

7) For god sake LISTEN! You will spend your adulthood learning lots of new things.. only to realise you were taught them at school. You would've known this Soph but y'know.. Talking was a priority!

General Life

1) The dream matte mouse is disgusting. That is all.

2) Start saving your money when you begin earning it, ffs you could be loaded by now!!

3) Spend less time worrying. This is time you'll never get back.

5) Blend blend blend that makeup! No one likes a foundation line.

6) Get your eyebrows done by a professional.. Going in all guns blazing, clueless, isn't going to do you or your eyebrows any favours.

7) Be yourself.. If people don't like you, fuck um!

8) Choose your friends wisely.. Eventually your real friends shine through, and those who matter will stick by you. And those who don't, aren't worth thinking about.

9) And finally, remember to cherish every moment with your family, they won't always be here, and it will hit you like a tonne of bricks when they're not. Make as many memories as possible.

There we have it, a few things I wish I knew when I was younger. I wonder how different life would be now?

What would you tell your younger self? Id be interested to know!
