I absolutely love my job, personally I think I have the best, more rewarding job ever.
I am lucky enough to work in such a brilliant setting. I work with children, in a lovely little nursery just outside Bath. It's completely different to any nursery I've ever seen before - we're a Forest School nursery, meaning we let our children learn through the outdoors. Think back to your own childhood, if it was anything like mine, you spent the majority of it outside playing games, climbing trees, and exploring. Something which unfortunately, children now a days just aren't experiencing.
To say my setting is different is an understatement; our children build fires, use hammers and saws (tools which I expect you're thinking WHAT?! REALLY?!) Yes really! The children are well equipped with the knowledge of how to use them, thanks to our amazing Forest School leader, with supervision and rules the children thrive, and love what they do.
We go exploring in the brook, climb mud hills, pond dip, build things, the list is endless. Seeing the children honestly excited about coming to nursery is so lovely to see, and that's thanks to the brilliant work we all do.
This time of year really gets me thinking about how lucky I am to have such a brilliant job, I adore the children I look after, they're so funny, witty and caring. I have an endless list of the hilarious things they say.. However lots of them are now leaving us to go to big school, and to say I'm emotional about it is a massive understatement. I'm pretty sure I've cried every single day this week, and you're probably thinking that's really sad and weird, but honestly, the children I look after have been in our care since they were 6 months+, they leave age 4 for school. I've watched them grow, develop little personalities, make friendships, dance to frozen, run around the garden, splash in puddles, try new things - all of which I've helped contribute to. One little girl in particular, I've helped to become the strong independent little girl she is today, to see everything she has overcome, to her now going off to school, is so emotional. It has made being her 1:1 support worker so so rewarding, and I will miss her too much!
It's so sad to see them move on to the next step of their adventure, but I'm also so proud of each and every one of them, they've all achieved so much at our nursery, and to say I helped them along their way is very very rewarding.
Personally, I don't think I could do your every day job, with mine, I get to explore, play games, paint, draw, splash In puddles, and generally have a really lovely time. Lots of people say to me "It's not really a job, you just sit and play all day" If you're ever worked with children, have children of your own, or little brothers and sisters, you will know It's so much more than this, and it's bloody difficult!
I've also received so many gorgeous gifts over the past 2 weeks, which I am so so grateful for. So thank you to all the generous mummies and daddies, children also, for their lovely gifts, and beautiful personal cards. Im welling up writing this, oops! haha, so I'm going to leave it here, and share a few of the lovely things I received.
and that, is why I know I have the best job ever.

I'm so lucky! It's not like work at all, playing with Lego, play dough, and paint isn't really hard work haha.. But there's so much paperwork behind it that no one seems to realise!
DeleteI love it though, I agree it's rare to find one you love! You'll know when you find it xxx
